WordWise for iPhone Preview

Here's a preview of what the iPhone version of WordWise is going to look like:

And don't fret, Android players. We're going to reskin the Android version with this design as well.

  3. I love this app! Even though Scrabble's out for Android, I still enjoy this because I can play others via remote play. Will we ever be able to play real-time with others? Also, I don't receive email notifications when it's my turn even though I have it set to; I just open the app periodically and check. There's nothing in my spam folder, so they're not getting through to me for some reason.

  4. Are notifications going to be added on Android soon? Those of us who purchased WordWise Pro don't want to feel left in the dark if you guys now begin iPhone development...

  5. @Bryan: No, no plans for an iPad version in the immediate future. Our next highest priority after iPhone is Facebook.

@Mike: Don't worry. We're still actively improving the Android version. And yes, push notifications are one of our highest priorities for the Android version. The Android APIs do not have native support for push notification (except for Android 2.2 and above), so we're having to look into other solutions.

    1) Awesome. Thanks for the quick response.

    2) For those of us who have 2.2, will push notifications be worked on alongside whatever is planned for 2.1?

  7. Well, we'd ideally like push notification to work on all firmware versions, 1.5+. We're still testing a third-party service to see if it will work for us. Hopefully it will. If not, what we'll likely do is implement Google's native push service for those with 2.2, and keep emails for earlier versions.

  8. I've set up a filter in my Google Mail so that when a Wordwise notification comes, it a) forwards it to a text message via email (carrier-dependent; for Verizon it's xxxxxxxxxx@vtext.com) and b) adds a "wordwise" tag and archives it.

So I get a text message when my opponents move, and the full emails are available in my gmail account if I need to refer to them.

Not as nice as native notifications, but it's better than nothing.

  9. Wordwise is awesome.. As a paid user I would like to see a few simple changes to make it easier on the android platform. Under the tiles is a large amount of real estate. Move the play word button there and add return tiles and main menu buttons there as well. With those easy changes the game will be perfect for me.

I was curious what was the purpose of having it send you a text notification if you already are getting email notification of your turn?

  11. I love the app and like the new skin!

I have run into a problem where I'll invite a few random people and get no response or have games refused. I haven't had any new games start in almost a week because of this. Short of spamming out even more invites, is there any solution to this?

I would love to be able to set myself as "Looking for a game" and have it automatically match up people with that set.

Inviting a specific random person, who may or may not be interested and hoping they'll play hasn't been working out all that well for me.

  12. Thanks, Jesse.

Yes, we're working on a server upgrade to improve random opponent matching. It will look for opponents that have also requested a random invite in the last 15 minutes. It should work much better than the current function.

  13. I'm having problems with the new version of Pro forcing close. In fact, I can't open the program at all! The Free version works properly, but it's not as functional and I would like for the Pro version to work. Any ideas as to how to correct?

  14. Are iphone users able to play android users?

    ReplyDelete
  15. @Neil: Yes, when the iPhone version is released, iPhone users will be able to play Android users. The app is pretty much done, though there are still some bugs to work out. We hope to release it this month.

  16. Brilliant, thanks Derek. Will the cross browser and push notifications be made available on the free version on both platforms this month?

    Cheers

    P.S.
    Thanks for the instant reply!

  17. Push notification will be available in all versions this month (we're hoping early next week). The iPhone version keeps experiencing delays, though we really want to get it out this month.

  18. Isn't showing up in android market, even when I try to download it from your site. Is it not available?

  19. I've been getting several complaints about lack of visibility of WordWise in the Android Market the past few days. What model device and OS version (Menu>Settings>About Phone>Firmware Version) are you using?

  20. @nothing: strictly personal preference. For me email notifications would just get lost in the mass of other email I get. The text messages are more of an attention-getter. Obviously for some people the situation would be reversed.

  21. Hi Derek,

Any update for us on when both the iPhone and Android (with push notifications) which can play each other will be released?

    Cheers,

    Neil

  22. We should get the new Android version released this week, and the iPhone version submitted this week (though the rate of approval is up to Apple).

  23. Brilliant, thanks Derek. I trust you'll update this thread when these are done?

Again thanks for the feedback - hope this takes off for you guys because there's definitely a gap for a good cross platform scrabble app!

  24. Hey Derek, awesome app. I love it. But, my friend who has the free version said they got an update for 'air email's push notification. I have the paid version and are no such update :(

I paid and feel kind of cheated since they got it first. Do u have an eta for the paid version?

  25. How do iPhone users download the word wise app?......and is there some settimg that has to be set to be alowed to down load it

  26. WordWise for iPhone is now available in the iTunes App Store. iPhone users just need to purchase it (99 cents) just like any other app. They'll need a Google account to log in.

  27. Thx for the response......also how do you get it to notify you when its your turn.....I have the HTC Hero......other than that love the app

  28. Good Game. A nice addition to the big space on the bottom might be a "Last word played" Sometimes it's hard to see what changed. Or a button to jump to the next game that you have a turn in.
